OYE’s Mission

The  Oaxaqueñx Youth Encuentro, engages Indigenous youth such as Mixtec, Zapotec, Triqui, and neighboring Indigenous communities to dialogue about their experiences with discrimination and stereotypes of being Indigenous, share customs and traditional practices found in our communities. Also, to cultivate networks of solidarity within the regions of California and peer to peer mentorship. In doing so, we aspire to plant a seed of resilience and empowerment in order to remember, sustain, and cultivate our traditional knowledge, languages, and cultures for future generations.
